Candidate Privacy Notice.
If you've been identified by Laidback as a potential fit for a role, this explains what we know about you, where it came from, and what you can do about it.
Who we are
Laidback Inc. ("Laidback", "we", "us") is a Delaware company. We build an AI recruiting coworker for in-house hiring teams. This notice explains how we handle your professional information when a hiring team uses Laidback in Slack, Microsoft Teams or WhatsApp to source candidates.
What data we hold about you
Publicly available professional information, including:
- Name and professional headline
- Work experience (job titles, companies, dates, descriptions)
- Education (schools, degrees, fields of study)
- Skills and endorsements
- Location (city, country)
- Public profile photo
- Public professional summary
We do not process private messages, contact information behind a login wall, or anything you have marked private on the source platform.
Where the data comes from
Your information comes from LinkedIn and other professional data providers we license from. We only collect information you have made publicly available on professional networking platforms.
Why we process it
We rely on legitimate interest to help our customers, in-house hiring teams, identify people who may fit a role they're hiring for. Specifically, we use your data to:
- Match your public profile to open roles
- Give the hiring team a short, factual summary of your background
- Let them decide whether to reach out to you about the opportunity
We think this is proportionate because we only use information you've already published for professional purposes, and being contacted about relevant work opportunities is generally in your interest.
Automated processing and AI
Laidback uses AI to compare your public profile to a role's requirements, generate a match score and write a short assessment for the hiring team. Important:
- A human on the hiring team decides whether you're contacted, shortlisted or hired.
- No automated decision determines the outcome of your candidacy.
- Every outbound message referencing you is reviewed and sent by a human.
- You can request a human review of any automated assessment about you.
Who sees your data
Your profile is only visible inside the workspace of the hiring team that is actively sourcing for a role you match. Workspaces are isolated. Your data is not shared across our customers, and it is not used to train shared AI models used by other customers.
How long we keep it
We keep your professional information for up to 24 months from the last time it was actively used for a sourcing task. After that, we delete it unless there's an ongoing legitimate purpose (for example, an active conversation between you and a hiring team).
Your rights
You can:
- Access: get a copy of what we hold about you.
- Correct: ask us to fix anything inaccurate.
- Delete: ask us to remove you from our system.
- Object: object to our processing of your data.
- Contest automated assessments: ask a human to review.
To exercise any of these, email privacy@laidback.so. We'll respond within 30 days. If a hiring team has already contacted you, you can also reply to them directly and ask to opt out of future outreach.
How to opt out
Email privacy@laidback.so with the subject "Opt out" and a link to the public profile you want removed. We'll suppress your profile across our system within 30 days and add it to our do-not-source list.
