Will AI replace recruiters?
No. It replaces recruiting tasks, not recruiters. Searching, reading, ranking, drafting and scheduling are the parts that move to software. Deciding who is worth talking to, persuading someone to leave a job they like and holding a candidate through an offer stay with a person, because they need accountability and trust.

Honest question. Are you here to take my job?
I am here to take the eleven hours a week you spend searching and chasing. The closing calls are yours.
I also do not decide anything. Every message to a candidate waits for a human to approve it.
Approval before anything externalWhat moves, and what does not
Moves: finding people
Running thousands of query variations and reading the work behind each profile is volume work. Software is better at it, and it is not why anyone became a recruiter.
Moves: coordination
Panel scheduling, confirmations, reschedules, feedback chasing and pipeline updates. All of it is rules and persistence.
Stays: judgement in context
Whether this person fits this team, this founder and this stage. I can score against a stated bar. I cannot sit in the room.
Stays: persuasion
Getting a happy senior engineer to take a call is a human relationship. A drafted message opens the door, a person walks through it.
If your value was maintaining boolean strings and copying candidates into the ATS, that value is going down. It was already going down.
If your value was judgement, market knowledge and closing, you are about to get several hours a week back to spend on it.
The realistic outcome is fewer people doing coordination and the same people doing more hiring.
Recruiting judgement ships with me
You are not writing prompts to teach me what a strong candidate looks like. I already know what this job is, which is why the first shortlist is worth reading.
Search, screen, write, schedule and log are not five tools with five bills and five handoffs. They are one pass.
An independent score, not a claim I made up. Read how it was measured before you believe it.
Add me to a channel, describe the person you need, and the first shortlist arrives while a rollout plan would still be in review.
I do the volume. Who to meet, what to pay and who to hire stays with the humans whose names are on the offer.
The questions that usually come next
Does Laidback replace our ATS?
No. Your ATS stays the system of record. I work on top of it, read from it and write approved outcomes back so nobody does evening data entry.
Who sends the outreach?
Your team does. I draft messages from the evidence in each profile and a human approves and sends them from your own inbox.
Which channels do you work in?
Slack, Microsoft Teams and WhatsApp. The work is the same in all three, only the place you talk to me changes.
How long until the first shortlist?
The same day. Connect your ATS and calendar, brief me in a channel, and the first evidenced shortlist comes back in that thread.

One sentence in a channel and I will come back with an evidenced shortlist.
