Know the company before you approach its people
Ask me about a competitor and you get how their team is built, what they ship, who is behind it and what has changed lately. Then you get the names worth writing to.

Research a sourcer would take a day to do
Org shape
Rough headcount, how teams are split, who reports where when it is public, and how fast the group has grown or shrunk.
Stack and output
What they build with, what they have open sourced, what they publish. This is where the real skills evidence lives.
Recent change
Funding, layoffs, reorgs, a departed leader. Change is what makes a team reachable.
The people list
Every research answer ends with the specific humans who did the work you care about, each linked to the proof.
A message that names the system someone actually built gets read. A message that names their job title gets deleted.
Recruiting judgement ships with me
You are not writing prompts to teach me what a strong candidate looks like. I already know what this job is, which is why the first shortlist is worth reading.
Titles lie and stacks change. I look at what someone shipped, who they shipped it with, and how fast they grew into the work.
You get the commit, the talk, the customer they carried, the line in the release notes. If I cannot show why, I do not claim it.
Your bar becomes a written rubric I apply the same way on Monday and on Friday, so a shortlist is comparable instead of moody.
Disagree with a score and I show the reasoning behind it, then carry your correction into the next batch.
What people ask about company research
Is this just a company profile page?
No. A profile tells you headcount and funding. I tell you how the engineering org is split, what they shipped, who shipped it and which of those people is reachable.
How fresh is it?
Built on request from live sources, so it reflects today rather than a database refresh from last quarter.
Can you research our own company?
Yes, and it is a useful exercise. Seeing how your team looks from the outside usually changes how the outreach is written.
