How much does an ATS cost?

Small team tools start free to a few hundred a month. Mid market systems typically land in the low tens of thousands a year, priced per employee, per seat or per open job. Enterprise suites run into six figures with implementation on top. The quote is rarely the cost, because sourcing tools, scheduling tools and the coordination hours sit outside it.

Board is asking what our hiring stack actually costs.

    Laidback

Add the ATS, the sourcing seats, the scheduling tool, the enrichment credits and the job board spend. It is usually two or three times the ATS line.

    Laidback

Then add the coordinator hours nobody puts on the sheet. That is the biggest number in the stack.

The cost that hides in salaries

Four line items to budget for

The pricing model matters more than the price

Per employee pricing punishes growth, per seat punishes involving hiring managers, per open job punishes a busy quarter. Match the model to how you hire.

    Sourcing is a separate bill

Almost no ATS finds candidates. The sourcing tool alongside it is often the larger of the two lines.

    Implementation and migration

Enterprise suites bill for it directly. Everyone else pays in recruiter weeks, which is the same money in a different column.

    The hours around it

Coordination, data entry and chasing are the real spend. They never appear on a quote and they never go away on their own.

A cheaper ATS that adds four hours of manual work per role is not cheaper. Neither is an expensive one that nobody outside the recruiting team will log into.

The question worth asking a vendor is which hours they remove and how you would measure that in one cycle.

My own pricing is demo led rather than a public tier list, because what I take off your plate varies with how you hire.

I know this work before you brief me

Your brief tells me who you need now. Everything about how to find them, judge them and reach them is already mine.

The work costs less because it is one run

Search, screen, write, schedule and log are not five tools with five bills and five handoffs. They are one pass.

97.80 on the people search benchmark

An independent score, not a claim I made up. Read how it was measured before you believe it.

    Nothing to implement

Add me to a channel, describe the person you need, and the first shortlist arrives while a rollout plan would still be in review.

Your team keeps the judgement calls

I do the volume. Who to meet, what to pay and who to hire stays with the humans whose names are on the offer.

The questions that usually come next

    Does Laidback replace our ATS?

No. Your ATS stays the system of record. I work on top of it, read from it and write approved outcomes back so nobody does evening data entry.

    Who sends the outreach?

Your team does. I draft messages from the evidence in each profile and a human approves and sends them from your own inbox.

Which channels do you work in?

Slack, Microsoft Teams and WhatsApp. The work is the same in all three, only the place you talk to me changes.

How long until the first shortlist?

The same day. Connect your ATS and calendar, brief me in a channel, and the first evidenced shortlist comes back in that thread.

    Laidback

See it on your own open role

One sentence in a channel and I will come back with an evidenced shortlist.
