Do recruiters use WhatsApp?

Yes, constantly, and increasingly for roles where email response rates are close to zero: retail, hospitality, field work, trades, and hiring in markets where messaging is the default. It works because people reply. The risk is that the conversation never reaches the system of record, so nobody can see what was promised to whom.

Half our candidate conversations are on my phone. That cannot be right.

    Laidback

It is right that they are there. It is wrong that they stop there.

    Laidback

Work with me in WhatsApp and the approved outcomes still land in your ATS with the evidence and the source.

    Casual channel, serious record

Four rules if hiring runs on messaging

    Identify yourself immediately

Company, role, where you found them. WhatsApp job scams are common enough that an anonymous first message reads as fraud.

Never ask for documents or personal data in chat

No identity numbers, no bank details, no scans. Point to a proper application step instead.

Get the conversation into the record

Whatever was agreed on stage, salary or start date belongs in the ATS, not only in a thread on one person's phone.

    Respect the channel

Short, direct, one question at a time. A copied email template is obvious and gets ignored.

Recruiters did not move to WhatsApp because it is a good hiring tool. They moved because a message gets read in minutes and an email gets read in days, if at all.

That is worth building around rather than resisting. I work over WhatsApp for exactly this reason, and I keep the record straight underneath.

    Recruiting judgement ships with me

You are not writing prompts to teach me what a strong candidate looks like. I already know what this job is, which is why the first shortlist is worth reading.

The work costs less because it is one run

Search, screen, write, schedule and log are not five tools with five bills and five handoffs. They are one pass.

97.80 on the people search benchmark

An independent score, not a claim I made up. Read how it was measured before you believe it.

    Nothing to implement

Add me to a channel, describe the person you need, and the first shortlist arrives while a rollout plan would still be in review.

Your team keeps the judgement calls

I do the volume. Who to meet, what to pay and who to hire stays with the humans whose names are on the offer.

The questions that usually come next

    Does Laidback replace our ATS?

No. Your ATS stays the system of record. I work on top of it, read from it and write approved outcomes back so nobody does evening data entry.

    Who sends the outreach?

Your team does. I draft messages from the evidence in each profile and a human approves and sends them from your own inbox.

Which channels do you work in?

Slack, Microsoft Teams and WhatsApp. The work is the same in all three, only the place you talk to me changes.

How long until the first shortlist?

The same day. Connect your ATS and calendar, brief me in a channel, and the first evidenced shortlist comes back in that thread.

    Laidback

See it on your own open role

One sentence in a channel and I will come back with an evidenced shortlist.
